Women's Division Director
Where in the world has our director been?
After doing a Native American ministries Sunday service at Downs UMW and a UMW Sunday service at Portis UMC, she was off in June to Midwest Regional School in Fargo, ND. To get to Fargo, she flew to Chicago and nearly missed her flight to Fargo due to late departure from Wichita. As a women's director, Betty Hodson was assigned to do leadership development and officer update for Education and Interpretation mission coordinators. Like our South Central Jurisdiction, the North Central Jurisdiction has fifteen conferences. It was great meeting United Methodist Women from these conferences. From there, she went to Billings, MT via Denver and stayed two nights before she went on to Pacific Regional School in Powell, WY. To get there, Betty rode in a farm truck which was hauling golf carts on a long trailer for the school in Powel, 90 miles from Billings. Are United Methodist Women resourceful or not? Once again, it was so wonderful meeting women from eight conferences in the Western Jurisdiction. These women hail from Alaska, Hawaii, California, etc. Her assignment here was the same as in the Midwest Regional School. Betty attended the meeting the Western Jurisdiction president conducted with all the conference presidents. She learned that in this Jurisdiction, conferences allow three days in some cases for executive or annual meetings and talk of driving over mountains. It was a wonderful experience in the eleven days she was gone from home!
In July, she attended the wonderful summer tea sponsored by the Valley Center UMW and was honored to hear Lorna Anderson Moore speak. Then Betty was off to School of Christian Mission which had a fantastic attendance of 167. In September, she will join the UMW in Ness City for a joint mission study with other units and then do UMW Sunday services at First UMC in Great Bend. In October, Betty will team teach the Native American study with June Thomas at Mini School; attend a Women's Division meeting in Stamford, CT; attend the Dodge City District meeting and do a workshop; and then travel to the New Mexico Conference Annual Meeting in Albuquerque, NM to be key note speaker.
It is a joy to
serve the Lord!
