Open Table... Brokenness to Wholeness

"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

-Hebrews 13:2

All are invited to our Kansas West United Methodist Women Annual Meeting being held September 18-19, 2009 at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton, Kansas. This event is for all United Methodist Women at the local, district and conference levels, including all our pastors who we welcome into our midst whenever we gather together. Our Friday evening meal will be served by the Hutchinson District Hot Foods Trailer and we ask that everyone dress in casual comfort. Our evening entertainment will be music provided by Spirit Group from McPherson and "Railroad: Track with Christ" presented by Rev. Ron Lowry.

Saturday morning we will hear from our keynote speaker Rev. Pat Ault-Duell of Hutchinson Trinity UMC. Pat is a former Hays District Superintendent and is known as an inspiring preacher and a pastor who emphasizes hospitality. Along with the business meeting there will also be time for you to attend a focus group. You can choose to tour Youthville’s Newton Campus and see the many ways they live out the mission of "Giving Children Back Their Childhood." There will also be a tour of Asbury Park Retirement Community with an emphasis on the Green House® Homes which are a new concept of living for the elder in need of health care to live in a residential setting for a group of ten. At the Salem UMC we will offer a focus by Peace Connections, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals and groups to care for themselves and to connect to others in ways that create more personal, local, national and global peace. Our final focus is an opportunity for teen, university and young women (ages 12-39) to tour Youthville and be a part of our Annual Meeting for a reduced price of $10 which includes meetings and meals.

In-gathering information for Youthville and Asbury Park is listed below. Hotel suggestions and a map to help you find Salem UMC are included on the registration form. I look forward to seeing all of you at the table.

Blessings, Sandra Jellison-Knock, KWC UMW Vice President
