New officers should be nominated by October of each year. Each officer is to be elected for a 2-year term and can serve no more than 4 consecutive years in the same office.  As you are recruiting new officers each year, consider using the following abbreviated list of responsibilities as a memory jogger for "who does what". PRESIDENT:  Presides at Unit and Mission Team meetings. Sets the agenda and conducts the meetings of the Unit. Participates in and encourages the participation of members in district and conference activities of United Methodist Women. Represents the unit in the local church, the district and the conference.   



VICE-PRESIDENT: Chairs Program and Goal Setting Committee. Responsible for coordinating programs and devotionals. Carries responsibility for ecumenical relations, especially Church Women United (promotes Least Coin Offering). Promotes the UMW luncheon at Annual Conference, the Corpus Christi District Annual Meeting & the SWT UMW Annual Meeting.


SECRETARY: Minutes of Unit & Mission Team. Gives report at each meeting. Keeps attendance record. Keeps the president informed of any unfinished business, etc. Update Officer List and forwards to District. News Articles. Meetings notices. Publicity. Bulletin Board.


TREASURER: Handles all funds. Chairs Finance committee.

Is in charge of collecting the Least Coin Offering,

World Thank Offering, Pledge to Missions, Call to Prayer

donations, etc. Receive, disburse & account for all funds.

Budget & Pledge.


CHAIRPERSON COMMITTEE ON NOMINATIONS:

Talent Scout. Is responsible for recommending officers

and committee chairpersons. The Chairperson of

Nominations may serve one 2-year term in that position.

The committee on nominations is elected for a 4-year term

with a rotating membership divided

into four classes of two members each.
