educational policy

A pre-school curriculum is offered to all children. The curriculum is identical to that offered in school district four-year-old kindergarten classes. Every member of our staff is certified to teach. Children are placed in learning groups based on the child's age, needs and abilities. Program activities are planned weekly and monthly around a flexible daily routine. All programs include experiences which enhance self- esteem and positive self-image, social interaction, self-expression and communication, creative expression and large and small motor skills.

The intellectual growth is fostered through our pre-school education program, which includes reading readiness, math, science, movement, music and language skills. Field trips, walks, movies, filmstrips and hands-on experiences supplement the program and contribute to the development of social and life skills.

All children are provided with active and quiet activities, indoor and outdoor activities and structured as well as free choice activities. Each child may choose his/her own activity; when through with the activity, it is returned to its correct place and then the child may choose another activity.

nutrition

The Center provides an early morning breakfast, a full hot lunch and an afternoon snack. Meals and snacks are prepared on site. All meals and snacks are well-balanced and high in nutrition. The foods used are closely monitored to exclude excess fat, sugar, artificial coloring and preservatives.

Meals are served family-style with our staff joining the children at the tables. Children are encouraged to serve themselves and try new foods. Table manners are taught by example, and there is ample time for socialization.

Menus are posted weekly for parent information. Menus are reviewed periodically by the Director and by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction, Food and Nutrition Services, to insure nutritional content and variety.

"A prayer of thanks is offered prior to meals and snacks."
