a word from our pastor...$1,327,000!"Is anything too wonderful for God?"--Genesis 18:14a There were gasps and even tears of joy when Dick Rhyner, our capital campaign chair, announced that we had raised $1,327,000 for our building addition. Pray Big, Expect Big Answers . . .A number of years ago a distraught mother whose lovely daughter had been seriously injured asked me in the emergency room what we should pray for. I said we should ask God for what we want. And so we prayed that her daughter would live and recover. We prayed big and expected a big answer. And God was gracious and answered our prayers. As I prayed for our capital campaign God's words to Sarah in Genesis 18:14a came constantly to mind: "Is anything too wonderful for God?" I began to pray big and expect big answers. I encouraged our members and friends to pray that we would be able raise enough money to build the addition and equip it without incurring any debt. At this point we have raised more thn 50% more for our project than our fundraising consultants thought was feasible. We have enough money to completely pay for the construction of our addition. "Is anything too wonderful for God?" God answers prayer . . .The total cost of the building project is an estimated $1.6 million. We now have enough money to move forward with construction. But we are short approximately $275,000 of the cost of a building equipped for ministry with furniture, a sound system, a video system, carpet, appliances and cupboards for the kitchen, desks and tables for the offices, a fully equipped youth and choir room, etc. And while we would be able to build the mortgage payments would seriously cramp our new ministry plans. Although the active portion of our campaign has included we still need and hope to receive additional donations in the coming weeks and months. Let us all continue to pray that God will help us raise enough money to build the addititon and completely equip it for ministry without incurring any debt. "Is anything too wonderful for God?" As Sarah learned, and as we are learning, the answer is "No!"
