our history
In 1894 a group of dedicated Christians met together for the first time in their own church building. The building was an old schoolhouse purchased from the town of Minocqua for $105. They formed the Minocqua Methodist Society. The congregation became the Minocqua Methodist Episcopal Church and outgrew its building. In 1949 construction began on the present building. The Pine Room and additional classrooms were added in 1991 to handle further growth. We are still growing. Our building committee is currently studying a major expansion of our present facilities. Preliminary plans may be viewed in the Pine Room.
The Rocking Horse Child Care Center & Pre-school was established in 1973 to meet the needs of a changing community for childcare and has become an important ministry of our church for the community.
Church of the Pines has grown and flourished since its inception. We praise God for the spirit of a healthy, active congregation willing to do God’s work in our community and the world.
We invite people to experience hope, help, and home as they join us in worship, service, and fellowship.
