January
13th, 1985, marked our second anniversary in the new building.
Henry
Blount led our morning services. Fund raisers and special gifts
continued
for the van fund.
February 3rd dawned cold and
dark as an ice
storm blanketed the area. Only 63 brave souls were able to make
it
to church that Sunday. The church heated up later as Doug
Williams
and Bob Jordan brought a program of ragtime, folk, and gospel music to
the February Family Night.
Rev. Paul Rogers, missionary to
the West Indies,
presented a program of his work at the evening services on 10th March
1985.
Lay Leader Gary Wilburn led a 5-week Bible series on the Epistle of
James.
Grace and Trinity Choirs
presented a joint
Sunday Evening Musical Program on 5th May 1985. The Children's
and
Youth Choirs joined forces to present the musical "Down by the Creek
Bank"
at a Family Night Supper.
At Annual Conference, Jim
Humphries was appointed
to the Homer UMC. Our new parsonage family was Larry and Linda
Miller
and daughter Sally. Summer activities included recreation nights,
youth trips, and Wonderful Wednesdays. Wes Lynch returned to
Costa
Rica on a mission trip in August 1985.
In September 1985, Dr. Donald
Webb, Centenary
College President, led a revival. Bob Ferrington led the
music.
The Fall Family Night featured a return of the "Talent/No Talent"
show.
A small group began the Trinity Bible Study Program.
In November 1985, the new
sanctuary Building
Committee began meeting. The Missions Committee sponsored a
"Living
Missions Tree" during Advent. The Choir presented the Cantata
"Love,
Joy, Peace." The puppets performed at the Christmas Family
Night.
