New church officers were installed during the Covenant Service on 7th January 1979.  Our new youth minister, Bob McKinney, coordinated Youth Service on 11th February.  The Boy Scouts from Troop 59 and Pack 59 participated in the services.  Rev. Bill Stokes brought the sermon for the day.

Our pastor, Rev. James Christie, traveled to Israel in February 1979 for an educational convention entitled, "Jesus---His Life, Time, Land, and Faith."

Rev. and Mrs. Carlos Welch were named missionaries supported by Grace in March 1979.  We pledged $1,000 annually toward their support.  On Mission Sunday, in June 1979, the Welch family visited Grace and shared their experiences serving the church in India.

The annual Chicken Spaghetti Supper was successful and provided over $425 in profits for youth projects.  Susan Meriedth led  another Vacation Bible School for Grace, and 47 children attended.  Bob Edmiston was hired as our New Kids Klub Director to direct programs for children in grades one through six.

In July 1979, the church lost a faithful member in retired minister John E. Hearn.

Our Building Committee presented revised plans for our first phase in the Building Campaign at the Church Conference on 7th October 1979.  The conference voted to continue studying building plans.

Vernon Lay served as Trail Boss for our Pony Express Financial Drive.  There were 17 other riders who delivered trail bags with pledge cards and information to all Grace members during the drive in early November.

Our Chancel Choir presented the Christmas Cantata, "Love Transcending," on 16th December.  Kyle Tilley started working with the Junior and Senior High youth.  Rev. Christie reminded us to "recall the past with honesty, use the present with purpose, and face the future with faith."
