Grace in 1977

   The Wesley Deputation team lead the morning service on 23rd January 1977.  The "Call to Prayer and Self Denial" of the UMW was held on the 31st of January.  Members and their families of Troop and Pack 59 participated in the service on Boy Scout Sunday, 13th February 1977, and the annual Chicken Spaghetti supper raised $436 on 25th February.

Special guests for the worship services on 20th March 1977 were Rev. and Mrs. Lawson Lee, pastors of the Spanish-speaking ministry in New Orleans.  The support of this ministry was a budgeted item of Grace.

In April 1977, the Chancel Choir presented the Easter Cantata.  A family night supper was held on Maundy Thursday, and a communion service followed.

On 9th May 1977, a church conference voted to purchase 14 acres of land on US167 North for the future home of Grace Church.

In June 1977, Rev. Scott was appointed to serve in Leesville.  Rev. James Christie was appointed as the new pastor.

In July 1977, the church obtained legal title to the property on US167 North.  Cost of the site was $53,000.  The church paid $25,000 in cash and borrowed the remaining $28,000.

Pat Staggs concluded two years of faithful service as Director of Education and Youth Activities.  Freddie Mitchell took on the duties of Youth Director in September 1977.

The Covenant Players, a group of young actors, presented a series of Advent and Christmas plays on 4th December 1977.  The Chancel Choir presented the Christmas Cantata, "King of Kings" on 11th December.  The family night supper was held on 18th December.  The Candlelight Communion Service was held on Christmas Eve.  A combined Sunday School and morning service was held on Sunday, 25th December 1977.
