The
official membership, as of January, 1975, was 394. Rev. Ray Holt,
missionary to the Spanish speaking people of New Orleans, presented the
morning and evening service on 19th January and met with the UMYF.
Boy Scout Sunday was held in
February 1975.
Later in the year, Rev. Scott was awarded the Silver Beaver, the
highest
award that a volunteer worker can be given in Scouting, for his work in
the Ouachita Valley Section.
Rev. Alvin Mayo lead the
evening services 2nd
March as Bro. Scott participated in a "We Care" mission in Monroe.
The Easter Cantata was "The
Glory of Easter."
A church-wide covered dish supper was held for Maundy Thursday.
After
the meal, Holy Communion was served.
The annual Chicken Spaghetti
Supper was held
in April 1975. The profits were reported as $497.40. Other
fund raisers were a car wash, ice cream and cake sale, and a Drum cake
sale. A trip to Six Flags was enjoyed by 42 youth. The
youth
also formed a singing group, took part in a mission study, and led a
Youth
Revival.
Fourteen small groups
participated in "Three
Nights in Grace." The groups participated in discussions on
prayer
and witness. The event ended with a combined worship service.
May 18th, 1975, was declared
"Ted Wilson Day."
Ted had been a vital part of the youth program. He was leaving
Ruston
following his graduation from Tech. Ted brought the morning
message
and was honoured with a reception that evening.
The Wilbur Sayles Lay Music
Mission was held
15th to 17th July 1975. Mr. Sayles led in a stirring presentation
of the great hymns of the faith.
David McGehee led the Laity Day
service on
12th October 1975. Assisting David were Don Branch, Mike
Killgore,
and David Moore.
Grace church celebrated its
25th anniversary
with a Celebration Revival, 3rd to 9th November. The theme was
"Open
the Door for 25 More." Past ministers, W. O. Lynch, Bob Bengtson,
George Harkins, George Ross, Henry Blount, and Doug Mcguire
participated.
