Posted  2nd April 2000
In January 1969, Mary Joan Ball became the 1000th member to join Grace.  Special gifts made it possible for the Chancel Choir to buy new robes.

In April 1969, a Maundy Thursday Communion Service was offered at Grace.  Later that month, the Ruston Public High School Choir presented the evening worship service.

In June 1969, Gwen Peoples assumed the duties of Church Secretary.  Youth Activity Week was held 8th June through 14th June.  The new District Superintendent, Ralph Cain, brought the evening message on 29th June.  A reception to meet him and to welcome back the Bengtsons was held after the service.

Joy Spencer directed the Vacation Church School in July 1969.

In September 1969, the youth group from the Ringgold Methodist Church led an evening service.  In October 1969, the youth group from First Methodist in Minden did the same.  Charles Killgore was guest speaker on Layman's Sunday.  His message included "excuses" that Christians give.

The Ruston Community Thanksgiving Service was held at Grace.  Rev. Ralph Cain brought the message.  Pictures in the November 1969 issue of Grace Notes and News, published with the help of the Buddy Walker family, revealed that among those singing in the Cherub Choir were Linda and James Barker, Susan Holstead, and Lucius McGehee.  Also pictured was the Grace Youth Ensemble which included Libba, Lavern, and Lynn Ann Lay, Barbara and Deanna Napper, Judy Dennis, and Deborah McGehee.  On 22nd November 1969, Grace members descended on the parsonage at 1200 Dubach and gave it a painting facelift.  On 30th December 1969, the Commission on Missions placed a gift tree in the Narthex.  Gifts left on the tree were sent to the prison ministry at Angola.

The Chancel Choir presented the Christmas Cantata "Child of Bethlehem" on 14th December.  The evening service featured a return visit by the Ruston Public High School Choir in a special Christmas program.  The Senior High UMYF sang carols at Longleaf and Alpine Nursing Homes on 23rd December 1969.  December 31st, 1969, marked the end of a shortened fiscal year as the church moved its fiscal year to correspond to the calendar year.
