Grace in 1963

   On 3rd March 1963, the formal opening of the new educational building was held.  A mission study started that same day with the emphasis on missions to the Rim of East Asia .

A costume family night supper was held in May, 1963.  The theme was "Come to the Circus."  Costumes from a clown to a tightrope walker were reported.  Of special note was the "fat lady" ---- Ruby Barker.  Also in May, 1963, the church enjoyed an all day outing at Camp Alabama.  Sunday School, Worship, dinner, and afternoon activities highlighted the day.

Grace Notes, the Grace Youth Choir, took an overnight trip to Mansfield to sing at First Methodist Church.  The choir also visited Hodges Gardens.

Among the new members listed in the Grace newsletter were John Brewer, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Woodall, Mr. and Mrs. John McKinney.  The confirmation class included Libba Lay, Barbara Napper, Don McGehee, and Ronnie Sexton.

At Annual Conference, Rev. George Ross moved to First Methodist in Winnfield.  Rev. Wilson Watson, Gracie, and daughter, Dianne, came to Grace from First Methodist in Tallulah.

Youth Activity Week was held in July 1963.  The theme was "The Challenge to Christian Youth."  The week ended with a trip to Hot Springs.  The new District Superintendent, Dr. Henry Rickey, visited Grace and brought the morning message.

Methodist Men and WSCS joined forces to sponsor a covered dish supper in September 1963.  The program was a slide presentation by Rev. McGuire of his recent trip to the Holy Land.
