A
church wide mission study was conducted during the month of February,
1959.
Areas of special concern were the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska.
A week of visitation evangelism
in March, 1959,
was sponsored by the Commission on Membership and Evangelism and the
Methodist
Men. Teams went out to reach inactive members and the unchurched
in the community.
A revival lead by Rev. W. D.
Boddie was also
held in March, 1959.
The Easter Cantata was "The
Seven Last Words
of Christ" and the Christmas Cantata was "The Song of Christmas."
WSCS President for the
year was Mildred
McGehee.
The budget for 1959-1960 was
set at $29,600.
August of 1959 was a trying month for the finances of Grace. With
funds running low, Rev. Henry Blount, urged members to accept the
responsibility
and privilege of supporting the church.
On the 9th anniversary, Grace
had a membership
of 420.
During 1959, five young people
made decisions
for Christian vocations.
The year 1959 ended with
Christmas family night
on 16th December and a "come and go" prayer service on Christmas Day.
