A
chicken spaghetti supper was held in February, 1956, and a fried
chicken
dinner was held in July, 1956, to raise money for the building
fund.
The methodist men and WSCS sponsored a booth at the fair for the same
purpose.
The budget for 1956 was
$16,343. In February,
1956, membership was reported at 235..
On March 8th and 9th, members
of Grace participated
in a 24 hour prayer vigil for world peace.
The Grace newsletter, "Growing
in Grace" was
mailed to members with a 2 cent stamp.
The WSCS reported a membership
of 61.
Officers were Loraine Howard, Gwen Peoples, Louise Hinton, and Myrtle
Raley.
Sixty-one youngsters attended
Vacation Bible
School in June 1956. Among those in attendance were Libba and
Lavern
Lay, Pat Pierce, Deborah, Pat, and Don McGehee, Judy and Joe Dennis,
Sam
Cox, Kathy Kees, Ronnie Anders, and Kenny Peoples.
During the year, Grace lay
teams filled pulpits
in Antioch, Simsboro, Ringgold, Eros, and Dubach. Members of the
teams included among others, Lucius McGehee, Claude Ruple, Jimmy
Howard,
Vernon Lay, Hal Barker, and Ruby Nell Barker.
Following the retirement of the
debt, the parsonage
was dedicated on 5th November 1956.
