Grace in 1954
Posted 19th December 1999
In January1954, plans and contributions were made to air condition the new church building by the summer of 1954.

By 1954, Grace Church had become self sufficient.  The budget of $18,566 was fully subscribed by the congregation.  That year 81 new members joined the church.

At Annual Conference, Rev. Doug McGuire was moved to Park Avenue Methodist in Shreveport.  The new pastor was Rev. Preston Holley, who came to Grace from Noel Methodist Church.  The new parsonage family included Rev. and Mrs. Holley, and three children, Preston, Jr., Terry, and Mary Elizabeth.

A steering committee for the Sanctuary Building Program was appointed in October, 1954, and the building program was authorized at a Quarterly Conference on 28th November, 1954.
