February 24, 2008                                                                                                         8:30 AM

PRELUDE:                                                                                                              Betty Phinney

ANNOUNCEMENTS:                                                                                                  8:25 AM

*GREETINGS & GATHERINGS: And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”                                                 Isaiah 35:10 RSV

*CALL TO WORSHIP:  O come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!  Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise! For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.  In His hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; for His hands formed the dry land.  O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.  O that today you would hearken to His voice! Harden not your hearts, as at Mer'ibah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, when your fathers tested Me, and put Me to the proof, though they had seen My work.  For forty years I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who err in heart,
and they do not regard My ways.”  Therefore I swore in My anger that they should not enter My rest.”              Psalm 95 RSV

HYMNS OF PRAISE:           “Rejoice, the Lord Is King”                                                     #715

“He Leadeth Me: O Blessed Thought”                                    #128

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH:  The Apostles’ Creed                                                           #881

*GLORIA PATRI:                                                                                                                #70

UNISON PRAYER: “O God, our heavenly Father, these prayers come from all of us. Someone prays on our behalf, but the prayers belong to everyone, and come from our hearts more than from our mouths. In some ways none of us really knows how another feels, because each of us must struggle with his own fears, cope with his own problems, hurt from his own pains, search for his own goals, forgive and be forgiven his own failures. In such matters, God, when we seek understanding and hope for encouragement, it is to You that we turn. In moments such as these, we reach beyond ourselves and our troubles to You, asking not so much for things, but for a second or two of Your Presence. Just Your slightest touch and the day will be blessed, the raw spots will be healed and there will be peace in the hours ahead. And so we pray to You Dear God, Almighty, Everlasting One, all of us giving thanks for this moment, Your touch and our healing. In Jesus’ name who has taught us to pray:”

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR A FUN EVENT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

What:               Silent Auction FUNdraiser toward the building fund

When:              Saturday April 19, 2008

Where:             Fellowship Hall

Why:                To raise money, excitement and awareness of what the Lord can do as we collect money for the building fund.

What kinds of things will be auctioned off?

This highly depends on the creativity of our congregation and those who are willing to go out and generate donations.  Some initial ideas?

Gift baskets from those who sell Pampered Chef, PartyLite, Lia Sophia, Avon, Mary Kay, etc.

Gift certificates from those who provide services – haircuts, piano lessons, voice lessons, cake decorating, oil changes, professional services such as counseling, audiology, massage, tutoring, etc.

Donations from those who sew, quilt, crochet, or create other works of art such as beautiful paintings

Gift certificates/gift baskets from local businesses not far from our church, such as Our Country Hearts, Giant markets, Nezuntoz, Phil’s Chicken House, (where do you go out to eat after church?), etc

Gift certificate/Gift basket from Arrowhead Christian Bookstore and other local Christian stores, then take a look in the Christian Yellow Pages, who else would be willing to make a donation.

Baskets that have a cookbook and cookie cutters, a basket with candles and bubble bath, wine and crackers, kitchen towels and a special recipe, a basket of books that you’ve already read (in good condition) and would like to pass along

A basket of baby bibs, onesies, baby toys, diapers, etc

A kid’s basket with crayons, coloring books, stickers, doodle pad, little toys, etc

Get your family, Sunday school class, men’s group, woman’s group, youth group etc to donate a collective basket. Options are limitless here!!!  Creativity will be the key!  We don’t need expensive donations - think of things that would make nice gifts, items that people would be willing to bid on!

Stay tuned as more details will be made available as April draws near!

Thank you in advance for your participation and willingness to generously donate to this FUNdraiser!   If you have questions, more ideas or want to be involved in this event, please contact Deborah Eckhardt, 772-2472.

Sunday evening, March 9, 7:00 p.m.

A Special Evening Worship Experience

“Simon Peter”

On Sunday evening, March 9, at 7:00 p.m., we will be sharing in a special kind of worship experience with the presentation of the dramatic monologue, “Simon Peter”.  This presentation provides us with a worship experience through sacred drama and music, by sharing a part of this disciple’s life with our Lord Jesus Christ.  Through his monologue, Peter shares with us some of the joys and conflicts of knowing Christ as a brother, of walking and talking with Him, and of experiencing the power of His Spirit.  As we listen to him, we, too, can share in his agony in denial and, then, in his tremendous victory through forgiveness.  We will each have the opportunity to reflect upon our own lives, to consider what they have been, and then to share, with Peter, in the promise of what they can be through the presence and power of the living God.  Please plan to attend! (And bring a friend or two!)
