Pastor's Comments on Upper Room Daily Devotional

Verse 1 of Frank's suggested Scripture reading contains the words: "…everyone who is written in the book…"  That's the "Book of Life" of course.  I thought I was alive, no matter what the book said, until I met Jesus.  I know now that I was dead in sin, that there was no life in me until I invited Jesus into my heart.  I can hardly believe that I thought, at one time, I was enjoying life.  "Why are you beating yourself in the head with that hammer?" a person was asked.  "Because it feels so good when I stop," they replied.  I no longer have to abuse myself to feel good now that I know Jesus.  Jesus said he came into this world so that we might have life and have it abundantly.  That does not mean God is going to heap a bunch of money or material things on me.  When Jesus says "abundantly," he means just that - life that is eternal, that never ends - more than just a whole lot of life - abundant life.

I love you all and pray that sometime today you will thank God for giving you abundant life.  I also pray that he will bless you and keep you in his infinite love and amazing grace.
