On September 27th, the "church left the building" again, and the Holy Spirit
was definitely on the scene! The weather was picture perfect!!!
The Sunday evening service was transformed into the Under the Tent" event in the park at
McClain Homes. A 40' X 40' tent rented, and 100 folding chairs were borrowed. Ged Grimmitt brought
his 'Lo Boy' trailer to create a stage for Kevin Cook and the Praise Band to sing and Bro. Mike
to preach.
Both the Barnabas and Silas Teams, who go each summer month to the public housing parks for a
free cookout and fellowship, joined efforts to prepare the free meal. This meal was underwritten
by Evangelism and the Shepherd's Table. By 4:00, there were hot dogs and hamburgers with all the
trimmings, chips, and homemade brownies ready for all who came to eat, along with tea, water,
and lemonade to drink. The feast was joined by at least 225 people, and about 75 of these were
our congregation. Isn't it marvelous to have that response?!!
As everyone stood in line to give their orders, and
sat to eat, the Barnabas and Silias Praise Band members, plus some others who gave their Sunday
afternoon, played and sang such wonderful music, that many, including the cooking team, thought
they were hearing a CD. It was a professional sound to say the least!!! Kudos to the sound guys
for hauling the equipment to the site, setting it up, and hauling it back!
There were balloons for the children in shapes they requested, and face painting was available
for all.
Food was served until 5:45, and the service "Under the Tent" began. The children had their
own service with Ms. Carol on a grassy knoll just beyond earshot of the tent. The Praise Band had
the music booklets from the revival, and led the group of over 100 in singing. Bro. Mike gave a
very moving sermon, and there was a response at the front, as well as others who raised their hands
for Bro. David to pray for them.
It was a wonderful evening, and the support of our congregation was very special, and very necessary
indeed. This outreach to the 'least of these' is one of the expectations of Jesus in Matthew
25:34-40. If you were a part of it, even just, and especially through, prayer - you took part
in a special move of God. We likely will not know the extent of the effort in this life, but seeds
were planted. Who knows what beautiful flowers will bloom, and what delicious fruit will be borne
from these seeds? God knows!

Jail Ministry
- June 30, 2009
Our highest priority: Introducing people to Jesus Christ.
How? By loving and caring for people where they are.
People don't care what or who you know until they know that you care!
Every Monday and Tuesday evening people in the Tuscumbia City and Colbert County Jails are being
introduced to Jesus Christ. For years, our Jail Ministry teams have been loving and caring for those
in our community who, for whatever reason, have made poor choices that robbed them of their freedom.
For many years, many of you have been interceding for those in jail and those among us who are called
to this ministry. You have contributed Bibles, daily devotionals, clothes, reading glasses, toothbrushes
and toothpaste, socks and other necessities of life. You have prayed for people you don't know and
you have blessed them in the most difficult circumstances of their lives. Your prayers and gifts have
helped the Jail Ministry team develop relationships that have led 10 women in the last three weeks
to trust Jesus Christ with their very lives (and that is just the last four weeks and just the
women!!).
Our highest priority: Introducing people to Jesus Christ. How? By loving and caring for people where
they are. (Read Matthew 25:31-46 for more information.)

Honduras Mission Team Returns Home
- March 6, 2009
|
The Honduras Mission Team returned home Saturday, February 22nd, after spending
nearly a week in the country. After a good night's rest at the mission home, the team traveled
4 and 1/2 hours to the village of Jesus de Oroto where they would spend the next 3 and 1/2
days. The team quickly got the clinics set up and began seeing patients that afternoon. This
is the first time BMDMI sent a team to the village and as a result the first day was a bit slow.
However, word got around to the villagers about the ministries available and the clinics quickly
became busy the next three days.
A total of 2739 patients were treated by the medical team of doctors, nurses, dentists, opticians
and pharmacists. There were a few critical cases that required hospitalization and follow up in
Tegucigalpa. In addition, the team included evangelism, children's ministry, clothing ministry,
veterinary and cooks.
An important mission for the team was to establish a church in the village. Revival services were
held each night at the community center. Three ministers on the team spoke the first three nights
- their messages were translated in Spanish by an interpreter. The last service was special - the
local minister spoke, children showed what they learn in Children's Church with a musical performance
and the Mission Team members were recognized and given a special thank you at the close of service.
By the end of the week there were 170 convictions and the community was committed to building a
church.
Thursday, the team left the village and headed back to the mission home. After a quick lunch
the team went to the Good Shepherd's Children Home. The children were happy to see the team
members as they led the team around the grounds and showed them where they slept. Friday was
a free day to rest or shop. Those who chose to go shopping, traveled to the Valley of Angels
that had lots of souvenir shops and a place to buy food and beverages.
