Who Is BMDMI?
Baptist Medical & Dental Mission International was founded by Charlie and
Carolyn Herrington in 1974. While serving in Honduras for six years, the
Herringtons saw many of their brothers and sisters in Christ suffering
from lack of medical and dental care. This led them to asked the Lord if
there was something that could be done to ease the pain and suffering.
The Lord began to give them a vision of what could be done with the help
of volunteers from across the United States, willing to pay their own
expenses and work for seven-day periods in poverty-stricken villages of
Honduras. These teams of volunteers would draw the people to hear the gospel
of the Lord Jesus Christ, and then offer them medical and dental care free
of charge.
In the last decade. the BMDMI has opened Christian schools, permanent
medical-dental clinics, vocational training centers, and a children's home.
To oversee the work, BMDMI has accepted God's call to commission and send
out full-time missionaries.

Honduras Mission Trip
Honduras Mission Team Prepares For Second Trip
- February 5, 2008
Please continue to pray for our Honduras Mission team and their trip as the departure
date quickly approaches. The team will leave from Nashville in the early morning hours
of February 16th and return to Tuscumbia very early on February 24th. The team is made
up of Team Leader Randy Davis and 52 members from Tuscumbia, Taladega, Rogersville and
two from out of state. A list of the entire team is a available in the Church Office.
There will be a Prayer of Consecration Service Sunday, February 10th, at the 10:50
Morning Worship service, for the members of the Hondarus Mission Team. Team members
are urged to come forward when indicated at the end of the service.
Honduras Mission Team Returns Home
- February 27, 2007
On February 17th a team of 40 left Tuscumbia for a destination of Santa
Cruz, Honduras. Very few of us actually knew what to expect when we arrived
and set out to do our mission work. We arrived in Santa Cruz and found less
than desirable conditions to work in, but we knew we had God's work to do.
It would be impossible to tell everything, but there was one common thought.
We need to encourage others to join this mission field and experience it for
themselves. We must take Matthew 28:19 to heart - "Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations..." Consider some thoughts from our team members:
What do you gain from going on a mission trip?
- You put yourself square in the middle of the Great Commission with no
outside distractions.
- You learn how very grateful you should be.
- You actually go and make a difference in someone's life.
- You learn what you are really made of.
- You learn "we" not "me".
- You get a better world picture.
- You get a "re-fueling".
- You understand what "the Body of Christ" really means.
- You receive abundant blessings.
Many of us have committed to return to Honduras. Begin to pray now and consider
where your place is in foreign missions. You will be blessed beyond your wildest
dreams!
