The Tuscumbia FUMC Family Life Retreat was held January 25-27, 2008, at Camp Sumatanga. Bro. David Dale got things underway Friday night with a short devotion about "Facing Our Giants", which was the theme for this year's Retreat. Saturday morning, Cheri Grimmitt and Sandra Honey led the group in a Scavenger Hunt where teams would look for certain items found in their pockets, purses or persons. After lunch, the movie "Facing the Giants" was shown. The evening entertainment was a performance by impersonator, Michael Kelly. Among his acts, he told how he proposed to his wife by impersonating Elvis with his song "Love Me Tender". In addition, he serenaded Cathy Davis as Earnest T. Bass with the song "Just A-Swingin", that was recorded by John Anderson. During times of praising through songs, the group heard testimonies from Sarah Thompson, Gordon Fennell, Lynda Bottcher and Danny Scheele. The retreat concluded Sunday with a morning service led by Bro. Mike Pope, followed by lunch.
