As we United Methodist Women fulfill our purpose to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the local, district and global ministries of the church.

United Methodist Women – Women Organized for Mission

Who are we?

We are the largest organized women’s group in the world with about 1,000,000 members. Our organization has been operating for approximately 140 years in mission service!

What is our purpose?

Our purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Who may join?

All women are welcome – any woman who commits herself to our purpose and chooses to belong, may be a member.

When do we meet?

Usually, we meet on Saturday morning or Wednesday evening – please see the calendar.

How do we support missions?

We support missions with our prayers, our participation in UMW sponsored events and our pledges of financial support. Roughly one third of our funds come from the direct donations of our members through their pledges. In 2008, we raised over $4,600 from our Rummage Sales –all money raised goes directly to missions!

What missions are supported?

Our focus is mainly on the special needs of women and children:

At Trinity – monthly programs for women, funeral receptions for church family members, meals for members and their families when an illness occurs, church library books in honor of new babies, scholarships for TCS nursery & elementary schools and TUMC college students, as well as support for MYF and miscellaneous outreach efforts.

Other Local Missions – A Better Choice Women’s Center, Crisis Pregnancy Center, Friends of WILA, Interval House, South Park Inn, Youth Challenge for Women, HIS Mansion, Salvation Army Children’s Camp and Youth Challenge for Women.

Other National & International Missions – Africa Inland Missions, Anchor House, Campus Crusade, Every Home for Christ, HIS Mansion, Women’s Advocate Ministry, & countless other missions designated by the General Board of Global Ministries.
