History:
Ministry with youth is a priority at Trinity. God does not make any grandchildren and each generation needs to be won for Jesus. Youth Ministry has been a priority for the congregation for many years. Youth ministry is year round and involves service, outreach, spiritual growth and Bible. Youth are encouraged to bring their friends to Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) and are active throughout the life and ministry of Trinity.
The purpose of youth ministry is to evaluate and reflect upon their lives, decide to follow Jesus, commit to a relationship with Him, and walk with Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Rich Rader is our part time Youth Pastor who provides guidance and leadership for our youth starting in May, 2007.
Ministry with children has been a part of Trinity’s emphasis for many years. Starting in the early 1920’s a Vacation Bible School has been a major activity reaching many children in and outside the church. A Junior Church program was started by Marcia Pedersen in the 1990’s. Paid child care workers with volunteers provide child care all morning on Sunday. The church has a Sunday school which was revived and renewed under the leadership of Wanda Carmon. Under her leadership and a team Kid Konnection was started in 2006. Also, a mid week children’s ministry started by Dottie Lindberg called Trinity Kids was revived by Wanda Carmon as Pioneer Club. Trinity also sponsors Cub Scout and Brownie/Girl Scouts. Under the leadership of our Music Ministers with lay leaders we now have a full compliment of choirs: 2 Children’s Choirs: Joyful Noise and Cherub and a Youth Choir, Joyful Bells and Youth Ringers are our bell choirs.
After much prayer the church created a part time staff position for Children’s Ministries and in June, 2008 Malcolm and Jennifer McGuire accepted this position.
Mission Statement for Children’s Ministries:
Invite, Inspire, Infuse, Illustrate, Increase – Intentionally for Jesus!
Invite: Attract children and youth from the local community by hosting popular activities on a regular basis.
Inspire: Provide a safe place for children and youth to belong, to explore their interests and talents, and to introduce Jesus and His values.
Infuse: Develop life skills through scripture, prayer, and role playing including what it means to love God with all one’s heart, soul, mind and strength and to love one’s neighbor as oneself.
Illustrate: Encourage intergenerational relationships. Mentor and demonstrate living out and sharing a personal relationship with Jesus.
Increase: Involve children and youth in all ministry and service opportunities within the church including worship.
Outcomes:
- Every child have an opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.
- Continue to mentor emphasis in Confirmation ministry.
- Provide on going opportunities for service, mission and outreach for children and youth.
- Communicate to Trinity parents the financial resources available for their children to attend Trinity Christian School.
- Build ways to encourage service by Trinity people at Trinity Christian School.
