Sunday School

http://www.ilivebig.com/default.aspx?dyn=506“LIVE B.I.G.” is underway at  Trinity UMC.  The children are using a new Sunday School curriculum this fall.  This curriculum is called LIVE BIG.  It is an age appropriate curriculum that will teach our kids to hear, see, and live their belief in God.  Each age group, including 3s and 4s, will have their own class and their own teacher.  Each child will receive a student book that will help them in their learning process.  This curriculum will help enhance the children’s learning and help them to grow in Christ.  Each lesson includes fun and exciting activities as well as a DVD clip that shows children their own age applying the lessons in a real way.

Children's Annual Programs
Mardi Gas Pancake Dinner- a fun gathering to celebrate the start of lent.

Family Weekend- a weekend set aside for families to enjoy fun and fellowship

Easter Egg Hunt-Palm Sunday Easter egg hunt includes games, prizes, refreshments, and a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny

Youth Mission Trip

When:  July 2009

Where:  Slidell, Louisiana (near new Orleans)

Cost:  $215 but could cost less depending on fund raisers; $25 deposit due October 12

Who: All youth who will be 14 or older by July 1, 2009

Arrangements for this trip are being made through Project NOAH, a disaster relief and emergency home repair outreach ministry sponsored by Slidell First UMC in Slidell, LA.  The trip will be a week long; 5 days there plus travel time and a stop overnight in Atlanta on the way home.  During the day, we will go to a work site to do repairs; during the evenings there are activities and devotions.  The cost includes meals, drinks, and lodging at a local church, construction materials, and evening activities.  Please talk to Erin for more details.  Applications for Project NOAH began processing on October 1st.  Let's not miss out on this awesome opportunity to serve and grow in our faith!

Other Events
5th Quarter: During the fall we open up the church after home football games for any middle school student who would like to come hang out and play games.
Football Season is underway!   All senior high youth are invited to come hang out in the youth building after A.L. Brown High School's home games until midnight.  Bring a friend!   Adult volunteers are always welcome; please talk to Erin if you would like to help.

We also participate in local mission projects such as Samaritan’s Table and the Crop Walk. In addition to our weekly activities there are lots of fun things going on as well, check back to see upcoming events often.

Desire or Require
Students who have the desire to be a part of our fun activities such as retreats and lock-ins will be asked to demonstrate that desire by their actions. They will be expected to attend meetings and to lend their support in at least one fundraiser and two service projects during the year. Parents will be asked to support their youth in planning fundraising activities, serving as chaperones, or assisting in other ways. We set these minimum standards not as requirements, but as a way to determine a student’s desire to be a part of the program.

College Ministries
Our college students meet for Sunday school during breaks. In addition to Sunday school we organize some social events including the now annual Spaghetti Supper Christmas Dinner. During the school year our students receive the Alive Now devotional in the mail and a care package around finals time.
