Worship Team

"To offer a spiritual environment for the praise and celebration of God."

People need to praise our God. This is the most important thing we can do. Jesus told us the greatest commandment is to love God with all our hearts.
This team will prepare and plan all aspects of our worship services, paying particular attention to the needs of guests in the congregation, seeking to offer them a comfortable, non-intimidating place to worship.
A worship support team will prepare the sanctuary for worship each week.
A celebration team will plan the worship service, preparing the message, music, drama and other complementary presentations.

Worship support Team

Each week there is much work that goes in to the preparation of the Sanctuary to provide a spiritually uplifting environment for the praise and worship of  God.

This work is mostly done in the background but this does not detract from it’s importance.

Sanctuary preparations: Banners, par aments, flowers and other decorations must be designed, made and placed into the sanctuary.

Stage preparations: Microphones, speakers, Audio visual equipment must be placed in the correct position. Everything must be checked to ensure that it will work. Music on tape  must be cued. Bottled water must be made available for speakers.

Registration materials: Before each service, each pew should be provided with registration cards/pads and pencils to allow the congregation to register their attendance. Following the service this information should be collected and tabulated.

Acolytes: Children must be recruited and trained for the role of acolyte. Acolyte supplies must be ordered and maintained.

Communion: Supplies must be ordered, prepared for scheduled communion services, and then cleaned away afterwards.

Bibles/Hymnals/Prayer cards: Should be neatly arranged and available with functioning pens/pencils in each of the pews

Ushers: Ushers must be recruited and trained for each worship service

Greeters: Should be recruited and trained, particularly with respect to welcoming guests.

Media Librarian: Retrieve and file all media used during the worship service so that it is readily available for future use

Prayer: Support and uplift the Worship team with prayer.

Celebration Planning

Each week a team meets to plan the following Sundays worship service.

Lead by the Pastor, the team determines what needs are perceived in the congregation. Scriptures are identified which apply to the chosen theme. A metaphor is selected which is a common object that will remind people about the service.

Music supporting the message is identified, and included in a program with appropriate drama, testimonies and other  presentation.

Audio / visual media is prepared on computer  to support the program and enhance the message.

Lay speakers assist the Pastor in presenting the message during the Sunday service.

Music is performed by musicians, the choir and soloists.

A special message is prepared for  the Children of the congregation.
