The beginning of a New Year always brings thoughts of starting something new. I have never been one to make a big deal of New Year’s resolutions, but the idea of trying something new certainly appeals to me. This New Year, however, began with something “newer” than I am used to! How surprised and happy I am to find myself at Trinity in 2009!
Many of you are aware that United Methodist pastoral appointments are normally made from July 1 to June 30 of the next year. But mid-year appointments do take place. My coming to Trinity in January is proof that it can happen.

It is interesting that folk from Harris were instrumental in the founding of Trinity way back when. Some of you remember! Since my wife continues as pastor at Harris, I hope we can maintain the congenial relations that have existed between the two congregations over the years!
I am excited about the opportunities I see for all of us here at Trinity. Already I have been warmly welcomed and introduced to many wonderful people. I am grateful for the hospitable spirit so evident here. You have embraced me with arms of love, and I thank God for you! Let us continue to share God’s love, not only within our walls but also to the larger world beyond.
