Welcome to Trinity United Methodist Church located in the historic downtown of Madison, Indiana on the Ohio river. Our worship is inspiring and traditional with a blend of classical and contemporary styles of music. Worship is broadcast live on WORX 96.7 FM and WXGO 1270 AM since 1953, and now on cable channel 21. Sermons are Bible based and connected to the world we live in. As a United Methodist Church, we base ourselves on the Wesley quadralateral of scripture, tradition, experience, and reason.
While the building of Trinity United Methodist Church is both historic (built in 1873) and beautiful, the members of the congregation are what makes the church the Body of Christ. We have talented, friendly, and wonderful people who make Trinity a living church that connects the local congregation with the world. Trinity has sent members on missions projects to Eastern Europe and to Louisiana in 2006, in 2007 to New Mexico,and in 2008 to England, to live out our faith in action and love as servants of Christ.
A United Methodist is a Christian following the vision and mission of the people called Methodist. A United Methodist follows the vision of John Wesley based upon fidelity to the foundations of Scripture, Tradition, Experience, and Reason. United Methodists are aligned to the classical and evangelical and missional traditions of Christianity. We are constantly learning and discovering what it means to be faithful followers of Christ in the world. As "Methodists" we are organized according to a document known as the Discipline which is revised every four years by a meeting of the General Conference which is the only body authorized to determine changes in policy or polity, which means we do not make sudden changes. United Methodists adhere to the apostolic faith as stated in the Apostolic and Nicene Creeds. United Methodists are a connectional church which means all United Methodists as individuals and congregations are connected together. As a large family of faith, we have many opinions and understandings of what Christian faith is. We are among the most demorcratic of churches in organization, yet there is balance in our connections. We adhere to the Weselyean understandiing of grace which is said to mean that while we admit that it is unlikely that everyone will be saved, by the grace and power and love of God, it is possible.
