United Methodist Women - Recommendations
The following are the 2001 recommendations for Trinity's United Methodist Women's Unit:
- That the Unit Meeting be held every other month on the 3rd Monday at the church. Circles choose night or
day best suited for their meetings.
- That a gift to missions or a flower of $15.00 be sent to sick members in the hospital or at home after out-patient surgery,
or the birth of a baby. That a memorial of $15.00 be sent as a gift to missions in case of a death of a member's parents,
husband or child. That a gift to missions or a memorial at the family's request be sent in case of death of a
member, parents, child or former member of the UMW.
- That each circle visit shut-ins assigned to them and provide them with a Christmas and birthday gift.
A suggestion would be a Mission card.
- That college students be remembered with cards for special occasions and a gift on their birthday and at Christmas.
A suggestion would be a Mission card.
- That all circles elect their Chairperson and either elect or appoint the remaining officers at the October meeting.
- That our Mission Pledge be $2,100.00.
- That Christmas be celebrated in the circles.
- That an article be written, by the UMW Secretary, to the North Carolina Christian Advocate upon the death of any member of
the UMW and a copy be sent to the family.
- That each year, minutes and records be filed, by the President and Secretary, in the church library in the UMW file cabinet.
- That suitable material be used in the circles for programs with the guidance of the Vice President, Denesa Lawson.
A missionary topic should be discussed at circle meetings, led by the Co-ordinator of Education & Interpretation,
using the Response and/or World Outlook magazine.
- That we give a special membership to each outgoing President which includes a certificate and a pin. A
special membership pin will be given to a member who has carried out the UMW Purpose in an exemplary fashion.
- That there are 4 circles making up the UMW.
- That each member make a special effort to increase our membership by one member per circle and have a great
determination in her heart to make this a better year.
- That we have at least one special activity for the residents of The Oaks during the year with Betty
Brumley in charge. The Social Action Co-ordinator will call The Oaks in January to schedule a time for this activity
on August 5th.
- That money be given as a scholarship for first time delegates to Spiritual Enrichment Retreat, School of Missions
or Annual Conference to any member that desires to attend these events.
- That October be the month for a World Thank Offering at the Unit Meeting led by the Education & Interpertation
Co-ordinator and a Pledge Service at the Circle Meetings in October led by the Treasurer.
- That we pay each speaker that visits us for the Unit Meeting $50.00 or send a contribution to Missions if
they so request.
- That we observe United Methodist Women's Day on Sunday, February 11, 2001.
- That we limit our gift giving to our Secret Prayer Sisters to Christmas and their Birthdays.
