Family Life Center - The Present
Family Life Center

Charlotte is growing by 20,000 persons each year. The area surrounding Trinity UMC is also experiencing new growth and development. A circle with a five-mile radius of which Trinity is a part, there are currently 147,000 persons residing. That is an increase of over 25,000 since 1980 or 21%. Between 1998 and 2003 the population is expected to grow by another 8.2% or 12,000 persons.

  • Our Fellowship Hall is too small for events such as Homecoming, our annual BBQ, wedding receptions, church dinners, children’s and youth activities and other programs. We often have to use the Sanctuary for plays and other special events for adequate seating.

  • Current office space for staff is insufficient, scattered in different areas and is not cost and communication effective. Rooms currently in use as office space can revert to their original purposes, such as classrooms.

  • Playschool Ministry would be able to expand and meet the growing needs of our community.
"Because of a growing diversity of peoples, churches are wise to broaden their programs and ministries options. A multi-use family life center can be a great asset in expanding programs and ministries."
Mark Key - Director of Congregational Development of WNC

On August 11, 1996 at our Charge Conference we voted as a church to start a pledge campaign to expand our facilities so that God’s Ministry through our Church would continue to expand and flourish in our community.

On Sunday January 14, 2001 we held a called Charged Conference to vote on the following two issues in which both were approved.

  • To approve the borrowing of a maximum of $900,000.
  • To approve Foard Collins Construction as the builder.
