In the Pre-K through Kindergarten Class, we study basic Bible
stories such as Goliath, Noah and the whale, Moses and the burning
bush, and Jesus Christ. Our normal class attendance is seven children
and we have very much fun! Every Sunday, we get cookies for snacks
during our class. Sometimes, we even have drinks.
In the 1st and 2nd Grade Class, our theme is Learning and Living
God's Word. We use the New Invitation Sunday School curriculum. The
New Invitation study material is related to the Church seasons.
During the course of this study, the children will study all of the
major Bible people and events. The children hear Bible stories of
Jesus and the early disciples as well as wonderful Old Testament
stories. These stories help the children receive valuable building
blocks that are the foundation of our faith.
Usually, we have about nine children attend our class. This upbeat
class of 3rd - 5th graders learn about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit
and all the fascinating stories in the Bible. We use Bible study
booklets to guide us through our study. One of the neat things we
plan to do is make a Bible tree. We will have an imitation tree and
each week we will put Bible verses on index cards and attach the
cards to the tree. The neat thing about this is we will learn verses
of the Bible without even thinking about it. These fine young
children are a great delight and as you can see, are very
creative!
The Junior High Class is for young people who attend grades 6-8.
The class is very informal; the students are given free time at the
beginning of each class to visit and enjoy fellowship. The lessons
are completed in class and no study material is sent home. Many of
the lessons deal with everyday situations that youth encounter and
what the Bible says about handling these situations.
The Senior High Class is composed of grades 9-12. The Quest Study
Bible is used along with "30 Days to Understanding the Bible."
Sometimes, instead of using the lesson plan, the group discusses
decisions and pressures teens are faced with in their lives. At other
times, the group plays board games, which gives them a chance to
relax and blow off steam!
This class consists of adults 20 to 50+ years of age and neither age nor marital status are important factors. Members include couples and singles. The class age and personality diversity leads to a wide range of perspectives on any given issue. The class is fun, loving and informed.
The class strives to learn more about God's word and how it applies to their lives. The class members bring experience from many different denominations. All members are encouraged to share their experiences, comments and thoughts in a loving and encouraging setting.
Rev. Dowdy leads the class in exploring both the Old and New
Testaments, weaving back and forth through its different periods and
writings to help the class get a better understanding of how the
Bible came to be and the many factors that contributed to its long
development of thought and practice.
This class starts each Sunday off by each member doing a show and
tell of their last weeks activities. Some of the things talked
about are funny and they have a good laugh! Some of the things talked
about are sad and they pray with each other. They also pray for the
sick and shut-ins and those in the Rest Homes. Get Well cards are
mailed to the Fellowship members, non-members and to anyone that the
class members request no matter their faith. There are three teachers
who rotate in this class. The class normally lasts approximately 45
minutes and is always over by 10:30 a.m. because there are some
members that sing in the choir and have to leave the class to
prepare. The Fellowship Class has been active for many, many years
and all of the members are at least 50 years of age. The members love
the fellowship that they have with each other in class.
