Our Mission Statement

The members of Trenton's First United Methodist church acknowledge the mission of the United Methodist church as making disciples for Jesus Christ.

We will reach out and share our faith with the entire community, through evangelism and missions.

We will provide opportunities for nurturing spiritual growth and fellowship through worship and Christian discipleship.

We will support and empower one another to live and act as faithful stewards in the world with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Our History

The original meeting of the congregation took place in 1887, some of which later formed the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.

In 1895-96, the church was built and the first church service was held on May 14, 1896.

In 1939, the Methodist Episcopal, Methodist Protestant, and the Methodist Episcopal South merged to become the "Methodist Church."

A parsonage was built in 1914, Sunday School classrooms were added to the building in 1922 and again in 1940. In 1957, an Open House was held for the new Educational Building/Fellowship Hall.

In 2002, we began a new building campaign. And, on February 16, 2003, the new Robinson Hall was consecrated.
