Compartiendo el amor Dios

Last Sunday we examined Psalm 139, a Psalm that promises us that
we are never alone for God knows our every thought, our every step
before we ever take it for God knew us before we were ever conceived
in our mother’s womb.

A Psalm of comfort, of assurance that we will never be orphaned by
a God who is all seeing, all knowing, always present for God doesn’t
know a sinner he can’t love, a broken heart he can’t mend. A fallen
tear he can’t dry, God doesn’t know a place where he can’t be in a
moment’s time to meet our every need. There are just some things
that God doesn’t know.

But what if: God couldn’t take the time to bless us today, because
we couldn’t take the time to thank Him yesterday.

What if: God didn’t walk with us today, because we failed to
recognize it as His day?

What if: God didn’t hear us today, because we didn’t listen to Him
yesterday?

What if: God answered our prayers, the way we answer His call to
service?

What if: God met our needs, the way we give Him our lives?

What if: The doors of the church were closed, because we did not
open the door of our hearts?

What if: God damned us, because we were judgmental and damned
others?

We are blessed for our God is a God of unconditional love who calls
us to come and serve. Come and serve using what you have been
through in your life to help another. And in service there may be a
price to pay.

Mark 1: 14-20

Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee,
preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is
fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and
believe in the gospel.” And passing along by the Sea of
Galilee, Jesus saw Simon and Andrew the brother of
Simon casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you
fishers of men.” And immediately Simon and Andrew left
their nets and followed Jesus. And going on a little farther,
Jesus saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother,
who were in the boat mending the nets. And immediately
Jesus called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the
boat with the hired servants, and followed Jesus.

Lets look at this scripture; do you hear what I hear?

Now after John was arrested, which still happens in the year 2006 in
some countries in this world to Christians sharing the Good News.
Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God and saying
repent and believe in the Gospel…

…passing along, Jesus saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon
casting a net into the sea. And Jesus said to them, follow me and I
will make you fishers of men. And immediately Simon and Andrew
left their nets and followed Jesus. And going on a little further, Jesus
saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, mending the nets
And immediately Jesus called them and they left their father Zebedee
in the boat, and followed Jesus.

I don’t know about you but I don’t hear Jesus saying if you don’t do
this, my father won’t do that. I don’t hear anyone resting in this
scripture for that is what being a Christian is about. Being a Christian
is about action, about hearing the word of God, feeling it within us
and with action reaching out to others so that they may know Jesus
Christ as their Lord and Savior.

In the ancient Jewish culture disciples followed their rabbi’s (rabbi
means teacher) followed their rabbi’s so closely down the roads of
Palestine that a common blessing was, “May you be covered in the
dust of your rabbi.”

But sometimes we get so important and so busy that we don’t hear
what is being said.

During a visit to a mental asylum the visitor asked the director, “What
is the criteria for a person being institutionalized?” “Well,” said the
Director, “we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup, and
a bucket to the patient and ask them to empty the bathtub.” “Oh, I
understand,” said the visitor. “A normal person would use the bucket
because it’s bigger than the spoon or the teacup.”

“NO,” said the Director, “A normal person would pull the plug. Do you
want a room with or without a view?”

As one looks at you as you walk through every day, what do they see
and what if?

He came to town on an old freight train. He jumped off in the pouring
rain, everybody said he’s insane, just a low down no account hobo.
He made his bed beneath the county bridge; the city folk said that’s
not his. They signed a petition they’re gonna' get rid of that low down
no count white trash. What if Jesus comes back like that on an old
freight train in a hobo hat? Will we let him in…or turn our back? What
if Jesus comes back like that? Hey what if Jesus comes back like that?

She was born into drug abuse, she couldn’t help what her momma did,
it wasn’t like she got to choose. Now she’s lying there all alone. Got a
monkey on her back, nurses say they never saw a smile like that.
Doctors say she might stand a chance if somebody takes her home.
What if Jesus comes back like that? Two months early and hooked on
crack? Will we let him in or turn our back? What if Jesus comes back
like that? Oh what if Jesus comes back like that? Nobody said life is
fair; we’ve all got a cross to bear. When it gets a little hard to care just
think of Jesus hanging there. He came to town on a cold dark night. A
single star was his only light, the baby born that silent night with a
manger for his bed. What if Jesus comes back like that? Where will he
find our hearts are at? Will he let us in or turn his back? Hey what if
Jesus comes back like that? Yeah, what if Jesus comes back like that?
Will he cry when he sees where our hearts are at? Will he let us in or
turn his back? Hey, what if Jesus comes back like that? Oh what if
Jesus comes back like that?

If you look at the life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, His style of
teaching and ministry was entirely relational. Relational to whom he
met on His daily journey.

You see the tongue is the heart’s pen and the mind’s messenger.
As you travel on your daily journey what does the messenger of your
mind, your tongue, leave as a written impression with inerasable ink
on another?

From the book of wisdom, Proverbs 2: 1-10

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my
commandments with you, making your ear attentive to
wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes,
if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for
understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for
it like hidden treasures; then you will understand the
fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the
Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge
and understanding; he stores us sound wisdom for the
upright; he is a shield for those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice and equity, every good
path; for wisdom will come into your heart, and
knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;

When one knows God, they respect him and a sinful lifestyle becomes
self-destructive, for true wisdom involves not only intelligence but
also moral integrity. And when wisdom enters into ones heart they
internalize the wisdom of God.

Wisdom, which comes to us in two ways, through God and our
personal desire to grow. But first we must trust and honor God.
Second, we must realize that the Bible reveals God’s wisdom to us.
Third, we must make right choices and avoid moral pitfalls in our
heart and our daily lifestyle. What are you internalizing?

When the world is so confusing you just don’t know what to do, it may
help to stop and listen to the voice inside of you. For it speaks the
words of wisdom that, somehow, you’ve always known. And it guides
your feet along the path that’s meant for you alone. It may be just a
whisper that you hear within your heart, but it gives you courage,
strength, and hope to make another start.

The voice inside of you is God speaking. Are you listening?

God is calling us today to go out of this church and share the Good
News, compartiendo el amor de Dios con los Brazos abiertos.

God is calling us today to go out of this church and share the Good
News by, compartiendo, sharing, el amor Dios, the love of God, con
Brazos abiertos, with open arms.

Are you ready to lay down your nets and to follow Jesus?

Say it with me,

Compartiendo el amor Dios con brazos abiertos.

Sharing the love of God with open arms.

Let us pray,

Father God, in our daily lives, may we remember that serving you is
not a passive venture, but an action of service. Look, was, came,
preaching, repent and believe, seeing, casting, follow, going on,
mending, immediately, and followed Jesus. Compartiendo el
amor Dios con brazos abiertos. Sharing the love of God with
open arms. Just as you will greet us with open arms as we
enter into heaven Father, may we greet others with open
arms and remember. Remember that person we see
who is down and out, in jail, dying, hungry. Not
somebody we would want to associate with, is
Jesus looking at us? May we put our hand in
the hand of the man who came from Galilee?
Jesus, who calmed the winds, walked on
water and saved a sinner like me
through his broken body and
blood, on the cross at
Calvary.
Amen

Follow Me!
