The Bible
United Methodists place Holy Scripture in a central
place. The Bible itself is a teaching tool, helping us
discern what God calls each of us to do. In itself, it is
not a thing to be worshipped. We worship God as revealed
through Jesus the Christ. The Bible tells us how God has
been faithful and giving to all of the people throughout the
ages.
In worship service, we read pieces of scripture, generally
following the Revised Common Lectionary. Worship is
then based around one or more of the themes of those readings.
The Bible also forms the basis for our educational
efforts. Children's curriculum is biblically based, as are
adult classes. Many individuals have committed to the
Disciple Bible Study program which lasts three years and
carefully examines the entire Bible.
Here are some links as you begin to examine how the Bible
impacts your life. We encourage you to read the scripture,
to study them, and to find out God's message of love and grace
can give your life new power.
