In February, the DCOM sponsored a training event at Evangel UMC in Holton, Kansas.  Approximately 235 people attended workshops for Pastor-Parish Relations Committees and Pastors, Christian Education Work Areas, Youth Leaders, Trustees, Administrative Council Chairpersons, Lay Leadership Teams, Evangelism Teams, and Finance Committees, as well as workshops on Worshipful Work, and S.H.A.P.E. (discerning one’s ministry area by learning one’s spiritual gifts).  Additional training events will be held annually to help local churches learn how to work more effectively together in ministry and mission.

A Workshop for Using Technology in Worship is in the planning stages.  Other events for resourcing local churches in the area of worship have been discussed, including “contemporary” worship design and planning, preaching preparation for specific seasons of the church year, and a round-table symposium to share ideas for special worship services throughout the year.

A District Evangelism Team has been selected which will plan events in District clusters to help local churches discover principles of evangelism that are effective in their communities.
