"And the living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house...to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Crist."  I Peter 2:5

  • Sacrifice.  A word that often suggests unpleasantness, even suffering, pain and loss.

  • Sacrifice.  A word rarely used by today's society thirsty for unlimited indulgence.

  • Sacrifice.  A word and practice virtually missing from the lives of most of us.

At Christmas we see sacrifice from a different point of view.  Because we profess faith in Jeasus Crist, we understand that spiritual growth often comes through sacrifice, pain and suffering.  Our salvation came only through God's sacrifice and the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross.  Through these sacrifices do grace  and love abound.  The Church of Saint Andrew is embarking on a journey that will require each and every one of us to pray and consider sacrificial giving.  An offering is not a sacrifice unless it requires something to change our lives.  An offering is not a sacrifice unless it requires us to change the way we live.  "Sacrifice" then, is giving up something more important so that something more important can take place.
Remember you cannot be told by another person what a sacrifice is for you.  That is between you and God.  God has called us to be stewards of his blessings. "Not an equal share, but an equal sacrifice."  The "Build for Tomorrow" campaign asks that you pray for God's guidance as you plan your response.  Please remember our campaign prayer.
