The First Tennessee Conference Hispanic Women’s Spiritual Retreat |
|
Francisca had a wonderful experience at the Lay Speaking Course in Spanish in November, 2007. She asked, “Is the Academy going to offer an event where women are able to gather to praise God, learn more about the Bible and have Christian fellowship?”
Soon a planning committee was formed with women representing the Hispanic faith communities and congregations sponsored by the Hispanic/Latino Academy, and already two retreats have been held at the Scarritt-Bennett Center, with the next two scheduled for 2009. [See Calendar of Events.
Parallel programs for their children are led by volunteers from our Hispanic/Latino students at Martin Methodist and from churches with Hispanic/Latino outreach ministries in the Nashville area. |

“The retreat has re-charged my soul to experience God’s blessings.”
“It has deepened my faith in God and helped me to deal with my daily experiences.”
“It is great to study and reflect on the stories of women in the Bible and how God provides strength to deal with all kinds of situations, and just to get acquainted with sisters from other Hispanic faith communities.”
“I’ve been affirmed that I’m not by myself in a strange land; the Lord Jesus will always be with me.” |
