Ten Mile United Methodist Church, Meigs Parish, Cleveland District, received the 1998 Mustard Seed Award at the Holston Annual Conference, held June 14-17, 1998, at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina.

Twenty-eight churches were nominated for the Mustard Seed Award. Nine of 11 districts were represented. The pastor and lay leader of all the nominated churches were asked to come up front. Robert and Edith were really surprised when Patrick C. Polis, who is Pastor, New Life UMC, Knoxville District, and who is chair of the Conference Sub-Committee on Small Membership Churches, started reading about the winning church, it sounded very familiar.

The Mustard Seed Award was established to recognize effective ministry in the Small Membership Church. Ten Mile UMC is so blessed to have Mary Culvahouse and Cynthia Roy leading our mission program and a wonderful congregation who are so compassionate and giving.
