“SPLASHING IN THE WATER!”
Thurston United Methodist Church is a gathering place where everyone is welcome. We love to dive into things, like baptism! It’s a place where transformation happens, by the grace and love of God. We have gone from survival mode, just paying our bills and opening the doors, to a vital, growing congregation! In the past five years, we have started an After School program that serves children in the community and the church. Four years ago, we served a breakfast for church fellowship and it has turned into a monthly gathering of nearly 200 people, from all around the county, who sit at table and break bread together. We have purchased property to expand our parking area, and just last year we bought a parsonage for the first time. As the pastor, I now have a real opportunity to get to know more about the people who live and work in this community. We celebrate our ministry and our diversity every Sunday in worship, where you can hear the sounds of children amidst voices praying and singing about the wonders of God. The folks at Thurston United Methodist Church are always learning something new about what it means to love God and serve our neighbor. The people here believe in community and they are willing to take risks for the sake of building God’s kingdom. I am truly blessed to serve as their pastor because they never stop
challenging me about what it means to follow Christ. We are all servants and leaders together and the world is certainly our parish. Our minds, our hearts, and our doors are truly open at Thurston United Methodist Church. Won’t you join us and find out for yourself? There’s enough love and enough room for everyone.
