Church Mission

To speak God's word of hope and grace... ...to enter the world to act upon God's word
That is the claim God has made on the people of Memorial United Methodist Church. It is an awesome responsibility to be proclaimers of the word and servants of the word. It is also an awesome privilege that God has entrusted this congregation TO PROCLAIMANDTO SERVE. As we enter into the world to speak and to act upon the word of God, we discover that there is much to do and even more to offer. The word of hope is a light to the needy world. The word of mercy is a gift to the harsh world. The word of forgiveness is an inspiration to the sinful world. And the word of grace is a God-send to all. Our acting in hope, mercy, forgiveness' and grace is both what God requires of us and what the world needs from us.	Because proclaiming and serving are both responsibility and privilege, use the church pictorial directory not only to learn names and put them together with faces, but to Pray for one another as we speak and act of god's behalf; Support the efforts of this congregation in proclaiming the word; Encourage each other as we serve in the world; Love our companions and proclaimers and servants of Jesus Christ. As we proclaim and serve, each in a unique way, may we be in the world, but not of the world. May we receive as much as we give. And may the word of God be alive in our own lives and in Memorial United Methodist Church.
