MISSION & OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES

Tabernacle believes the Church of Jesus Christ is called to be His hands and His heart for the world and the community that surrounds us. With that in mind, we intentionally involve our ministry in doing His work. Following are a list of mission ministries our membership is involved in:

InAsMuch – A ministry of area churches to provide food, clothing, and the Good News of Jesus Christ to the neediest in Guilford County. Volunteers are needed to help distribute on various Saturdays throughout the year.

Building Teams – Tabernacle has sent two teams to Florida in recent months to help with hurricane recovery. Also, church members can go on 1–2 week long trips coordinated by our United Methodist Conference. Areas of service include the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Asia, and Alaska. Applications are available in the church office.

Hebrews 13:3 Ministry – This ministry provides for the needs of youth offenders in our state prison system. Items (food, notes of encouragement) for a weekend retreat at their facility are needed from time to time. Announcements in the church bulletin notify us to what things are needed, and when.

Blood Drive – The American Red Cross assists groups in our church to sign up volunteers to donate blood here at the church on a specific Saturday.

Food Pantry – Tabernacle has a food pantry for members, referrals from members and those in the community who are in need of assistance with food. For any help, please contact the Church office.

Mobile Meals – A Guilford County program designed to deliver meals to the homes of the elderly. Volunteers usually pick up and deliver meals along the same route once every six weeks.

Carolina Cross Connection – A summer mission trip for our Senior High youth. The week is spent visiting and repairing home of the poor & elderly. Adult volunteers are needed to accompany the youth.

Potter’s Kitchen – Volunteers help prepare and serve meals to the homeless at Urban Ministries in downtown Greensboro.

Urban Ministries Food Drive – Twice a year volunteers participate in a food drive at our local grocery store. Shoppers are given a list of items needed for the hungry. They are given the opportunity to purchase them and donate them on the way out.

Hearts & Hands for Christ – An church-wide outreach day held twice a year at Tabernacle (once in spring and once in fall). We gather for breakfast and split into teams to go out into the community. Opportunities for service include building (wheelchair ramps, small home repairs), visitation (homebound and sick members), and service (trash pickup at area schools).
