The stained glass windows of the Sweetser Methodist Church were probably installed in 1915 when the church was moved to its present site. They are no doubt, "Belgian High Fired Glass", because of true and bright colors of the glass.  The windows are in good shape in most cases except for the need of releading and the dust and grime of years need to be cleaned away.  Some have broken and cracked glass. --- From "Sweetser Stained Glass Windows 1915-1972", a report given by Chief Ted Sedruley, Hartford City, Indiana, provided by Eleanor Wright.

The Good Shepherd

This window is a much remembered scence in the life of Jesus for he is pictured as the good shepherd.  The clouds in the background are most striking in color and formation.  If a verse is chosen, it might be taken from St. John 10:11, "I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep."

The window was a gift of Samuel and Julia Bechtel.  Mr. Bechtel was a trustee of the church in 1875.

This window is located on the north wall of the sanctuary.

I am the resurrection and the life

This window shows Jesus following the cruxifiction.   In the background is a small angel and the scripture at the base of the window was taken from St. John 11:25-26.  "I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whomsoever shall liveth and believeth in me shall never die.  Believist thou this?"

The window was a gift of William and Elizabeth Burge. Mr Burge was a long time benefactor of the church and also made provision for a parsonage.

This window is located on the south wall of the sanctuary.

Waterfall

This window depicts hills, a waterfall, a tree and lillies. The scripture at the base reads : "I will look to the hills from whence cometh help."

The window was a gift of Ernest and Nettie Cary.  Mr. Cary was a trustee of the church in 1875.

This window is located on the south wall of the sanctuary.

Lillies of the field

This window is one of tranquility and peace, pictured by the dove, clouds and the lillies of the field.  The scripture at the base comes from St. Matthew 6:28.

The window was a gift of Alfred and Catherine Stephens.

This window is located on the north wall of the sanctuary.
