Missions

First United Methodist Church is active in local, national and international missions. We have sent volunteer mission teams to local, national and international projects. Some of our local missions include a food bank at the church for those needing food, buying book bags and clothes for children in local schools, regular service at Summer Willow (retirement community), and others.

Missions areas outsicde our community includes support of missionaries overseas, mission trips to Central America every few years, members go on mission trips with other churches and with UM missionaries, and involvement with Mission on the Move among other missions supported.

Money is raised for missions thru the general budget (we are working to tithe our budget to missions), Birthday for the King celebration at Christmas (an offering for missions is collected as our gifts to Jesus at Jesus' birthday party) and Mile of Pennies(pennies are collected in each Sunday School class each Sunday and are used for missions.

Speakers from the Gideons, Methodist Chidrens Home and other Georgia Missions speak regularly at services and collections are made for these groups.

The youth go on mssion trips through out the year and usually have a week long mission trip in the summer
