Calvary United Methodist Church421 South Main StreetSwainsboro, GA 30401 478-237-2191 Office Nick Hazelton, Pastor Calvary will be holding its services at First UMC in the interim. The schedule is the same as we observed in the past: Sunday School 9:45, Worship 11:00, Evening Worship 6:00, Young at Heart Bible Study Tuesday 10:30, Mid-Week Bible Study Wednesday 6:30. Services will be held in the social hall at First UMC. Early in the morning on September 26, 2011 Calvary's church building was totally destroyed by fire. It is a devastating loss, but the church - the loving family of Calvary - is still intact. Although there will be much to do and many decisions to make of the weeks to come, be assured worship services will continue. Each of us feels the loss of our holy place - the location of so many memories, both shared and personal - in our own way. As we go through the days ahead it is important that we hold each other up in prayer. I will do my best to keep everyone informed of plans and meeting schedules. The first verse of Hymn 558 in the United Methodist Hymnal expresses a thought for the days to come:The church is not a building, the church is not a steeple, the church is not a resting place, the church is a people. May God bless us all as we continue to be the church. Nick ![]()
