Summit charters the largest and most active of the Scout troops from Marshall, Boy Scouts Troop 282 and Venture Crew 282.We follow the patrol method
lead by our youth leaders. We maintain an active outdoor program and continue to camp each month.
Troop 282 went to Camp Tom Hale near Talihina Ok. June 30- July 6, 2002. We had 28 Scouts and six adults. Scouts had opportunity to work on Snow Sports and Whitwater merit badges (among many others). Scouts completed a whitewater kayak trip on Thursday and did 9 mile hike on Bohannon Trail on Friday. We enjoyed ourselves so much at Camp Tom Hale that we have already made our reservations to return June 29-July 5, 2003.
On April 12, 2002, Troop 282 went to Vicksburg, MS, for a week. We usually camp in tents with sleeping bags and cook on stoves, but the place we stayed at was enclosed and we just put our sleeping bags on the floor. We were too tired every night, we didn't really care WHERE we slept! But honestly, we actually would have preferred to have camped outside. You just can't beat looking at the stars as you drift off to sleep!

As you can see, we are a very active troop and we have A lot of fun learning and earning our badges, but we are always eager to greet new members. "If you know of any young men that would like more information about Troop 282, please contact the troop by e-mail at troop 282@yahoo.com.
We have a large group of dedicated leaders who make our meetings and trips fun as well as informative.
