Health Tips from the Health and Spirituality Ministries

We welcomed the first day of spring this year with a remarkably gorgeous sight! An absolutely beautiful winter wonderland… For those with good memories will remember that it was 80 degrees on March 20th last year.  It will not be long until the snow will have departed, the crocuses will start breaking through, and the beauty and warmth of spring will be upon us.

As the seasons are changing we have the personal opportunity to make some changes.  After the comfort of indoor living, and all the winter’s celebrations we will now be able to change our indoor living to the enjoyment of getting outdoors.  We hope this means becoming much more physically active.  Starting a daily walking program is an excellent way to celebrate spring. Biking, hiking, gardening, exterior house work, and other physical activities will also be good ways to spend your time outdoors.

We all know the many benefits of being physically active, but we do not always think about how to go about it.  To prevent injury, accidents, sprains and strains start to rebuild your cardiovascular and endurance strength slowly over a period of time.  Also, think about safety for example walk facing traffic, wear protective equipment doing yard and house work, use gas and chemicals properly.

Let’s make this year’s change of seasons our most active and safest ever .
