Hope for the future
Our hope in God pulls us into the
future. Hope allows us to affirm the reality of the abundant life that is ours in Christ. Hope allows us to work to bring God's reign upon the earth even when we see no results. Our hope begins and ends in God,
the source of all hope.

God’s vision for our future
1 Peter 1: 3-5— What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we've been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you'll have it all—life healed and whole. (The Message)
I am currently in a pastor’s study group with five other United Methodist pastors serving churches in our area. We have covenanted together to strengthen our ministries.
- We are committed to learning together over the course of 18 months.
- In loving support, we hold each other accountable for spiritual growth, personal piety, and leadership development.
- We give ourselves to God in worship, prayer, and Christian conversation.
- We learn a process that will teach us how to create a strategic plan for ministry.
Help Us Plan For The Future
Part of this process is to evaluate our churches. I need your help! I am asking that you please participate in our Church Vitality Indicator survey. It is anonymous, and will help us to judge the direction in which God is leading our congregation. The Church Vitality Indicator is an online assessment tool that looks at the strengths of our church.
The Church Vitality Indicator invites our congregation into a process of
assessment and discernment so we can focus our resources on the areas of ministry that produce the most results. Going beyond a survey-only approach, it takes seriously the input of a team of leaders who will work together to identify the key drivers of congregational life. We are asking that everyone participate in the inventory.
Pick up a copy of the paper version of the inventory at church. It will be available starting in June. Fill it out and return it to the church office.
Or better yet, for those of you with Internet access visit the Church Vitality Indicator survey at http://www.cvindicator.com/intro2.htm. Log in using the passcode that will
be made available through the bulletin and email. Take 10 minutes to complete the simple survey.
Congratulate yourself for being a part of changing the future for St. Paul’s UMC and our community.
The Future Starts Now
“The future starts now!” That’s what the scripture from 1 Peter says. But, perhaps the most important question is “What future?” At St. Paul’s, we all recognize that God has given us a mission to:
- Connect people to God through Jesus Christ.
- Celebrate in worship to God.
- Grow as disciples, encouraging one another in prayer and study.
- Be involved in service to one another, our community, and the world.
- Give to further the kingdom of God and the proclamation of the gospel.
- Connect with one another in caring and sharing relationships
But, what does the future look like? What future are we chasing? What
is God’s vision of the future? May God guide us as we work together
to discover and evaluate the vitality
of our church and our opportunities for ministry.
