“OPEN HEARTS, OPEN MINDS, OPEN DOORS”
WELCOME to St.
Paul’s United Methodist Church. The people of St.
Paul’s are dedicated to creating a true community of faith for
all people.
In our life together we worship with praise and prayer, and nurture the
faith of our children, youth, and adults through a variety of
Scriptural studies. Those who enter our doors enjoy a variety of
fellowship opportunities. Our hope is that we witness to our
faith and God’s grace by living God’s teachings and bearing
the fruit of God’s love. The image of an apple orchard with
ripe red apples hanging abundantly from its trees is a helpful symbol
of a fruitful congregation.
As the people of God, we grow in our faith by standing up for those who
are oppressed, speaking out against injustice, serving those in need,
praising God, praying for others, and studying the Scriptures –
all this to deepen our discipleship and to “enjoy doing beautiful
things for God.”
There is room in our sanctuary for everyone. Our communion
celebration is open to all who seek the peace of Christ. People of all
ages, including the youngest children, participate in the life of our
church. From a Book Club and study groups to mission projects,
Light Café, “Flicks and Faith,” St. Paul’s Men,
the Choir and the Sunday school, there are exciting ways to serve and
to enjoy friendships.
We the people of St. Paul’s Church welcome you to join us for worship. Our services are every Sunday at 8:00 (an informal coffee worship) and at 10:30, a more traditional service.
Both services include a children’s lesson. Our Sunday
school for children and youth is at 10:45 a.m. (during worship).
Adults meet at 9:15 a.m.

Our History
St.
Paul's United Methodist Church is
the third descendant of the first Methodist
class
meetings held at Sam's Creek in
New
Windsor,
Maryland, in 1760. The congregation
that became St. Paul's began worshiping in a donated building on Main
Street and around 1825, a small chapel was
erected with
the Rev. J.P.
Carter as preacher.
In 1841, land was donated to St. Paul's and by 1843, the sanctuary was completed. As time passed, this building became inadequate and unsafe. In 1897, building plans for a new structure were purchased and work began on the current sanctuary. In October 1897, the congregation dedicated our new building to the continued work of God. In 1962, a church hall and class room building were added.
October 1993 marked the end of the 150th year of our church. During the anniversary celebration, District Superintendent Reverend Bernard Keels and then pastor Reverend Charles Acker opened a cornerstone and placed a time capsule inside for future generations. October 1997 marked the 100th anniversary of our present sanctuary, which in 1998 was used for the filming of part of the popular movie, "Runaway Bride".
St. Paul's has been blessed by a long legacy of men and women serving the Lord in the past and in the present. We continue to build a future in the service of our risen Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
