The Steeple - Painting on Slate

This painting of the famous St. Paul's Church steeple is done on a slate from the original roof of the church by one of the church members.  The church history reports that in 1807 when then New England Methodist Bishop Asbury saw the steeple on the church, the first on a Methodist church in the world, he  lifted his hands with Holy horror  and predicted that "a church which began with a steeple would end with a choir, and perhaps even with an organ."
