Service Opportunities

St. Paul's United Methodist Church is a church in mission.  We have always been known for our emphasis on mission outreach and hopefully always will be.

On the fourth Sunday of the month, we have the Hurting World offering.  This offering goes to help alleviate poverty and hunger around the world.

Other special offering opportunities are available throughout the year.

St. Paul's congregation supports Dr. Ainor Fergusson, Director of the Kissy United Methodist Eye Hospital in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Africa.

Clothing and food barrels are located in the entry of the church.  All donations are sent to SECOM (South End Community Outreach Ministries) who operates a clothing and food bank.  Donations can be dropped off at any time.

Members and friends may volunteer for our Classroom Buddy Program where we assist at Hamilton School across the street from the church.  We provide tutoring, classroom and office help or other needs at the school as they arise.  We also have another ministry for school children known as Bus Stop Buddies.   These individuals ensure that the students get on the school bus safely each morning.

We participate in the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN).  This a nationwide program where four times a year we house the homeless of the Grand Rapids area in our church for a week.

The Hunger Walk is sponsored by GRACE the first Saturday in May and the Clark Retirement Community Walk for Benevolent Care is in September each year. St. Paul's supports these worthy causes with walkers, pledges and volunteers.

Our Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program ministers to needy area families.
