~I am sad to say that this is the last “From the Pastor” that I will be writing for the Scroll. As I announced on Sunday, May 18, I will be moving to another church. It was not an easy decision for Barb and me to make. We have felt the love of this congregation from the very first time we met the Staff Pastor/Parish Relations Committee. We have shared some wonderful times together in many of the activities of the church. We have worked side by side in ministry in this community and even to other states. We have gone through some difficult times as we have lost members of this wonderful church family. We have laughed together and we have cried together. I thank you for accepting me for who I am and allowing me to be a part of this church.
Even though I am moving to be the pastor of another church I would hope that we will always remain good friends as we continue in ministry together through the United Methodist Church. We are not all the same and we celebrate the diversity of the church. Please give the new pastor the honor of being your pastor by sharing your love with her and being open to new ideas and methods of changing lives for Jesus Christ. I know you can do that because you did it for me.
Thank you
all for being who you are, Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ.
~Pastor Homer

New Pastor at St. Paul UMC
~On Sunday, June 22, St. Paul UMC will
say good bye to Pastor Homer as he preaches his last sermon as pastor of
our church. He has accepted a position
as full time pastor of Lawson United Methodist Church at Lawson,
Missouri. He and Barb will be deeply
missed, not only as our pastors, but as our friends. He asks that we welcome our new pastor, Mamie
Pero, with all of the love and support that we gave him when he came to St.
Paul eight years ago. Her first sermon
at St. Paul will be Sunday, June 29.
Pastor
Mamie is originally from Louisiana and attended seminary at St. Paul School
of Theology in Kansas City. She is
currently Associate Pastor at Grandview United Methodist Church in Grandview,
Missouri. She has a grown son and a
3 year grandchild. Below is her address
in Grandview so we can send her notes of welcome and encouragement.
Please
be in prayer for Pastor Mamie and Pastor Homer as they both move
into new appointments and new opportunities in their lives and their churches.

Everyone is invited to join in for our very first Church-wide” Baby Shower on Sunday, June 8, 11:30am for Malia Ann Safley, infant daughter of Brandon & Kristy Safley, born April 16. Please plan to stay a few minutes after the 10:30am service to celebrate Malia. Of course, we will have refreshments and we will have a basket that we hope to fill with baby food, cereals, bibs, any little necessity you think a baby might need. If you have any questions, contact Julie Tannehill, Carole Caw, Donna Clark, or the church office.

~I want to thank everyone

given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you”.
*John 14:14: “If you ask
anything in my name, I will do it”.
I asked, He gave.
