United Methodist Women

The UMW (United Methodist Women) of St. Marks meets monthly on the second Sunday of each month, in the Parlor after the Fellowship Hour. Women and girls of all ages are welcome and encouraged to take an active part in the UMW.

Among the missions that the UMW has supported are:

• the Coalition Against Domestic Violence
• the INN (Interfaith Nutritional Network)
• UMC in Far Rockaway
• the UMC Home in Brooklyn
• and the Red Bird Mission in Appalachia.

Some of the fund raising projects that are on-going are:

• saving labels (General Mills, Campbell, Tyson)
• recycling magazines (bring those you have read and buy others for 25 cents)
• selling homemade soup once or twice a month
• and individual pledges to missions.

Among the special events that the UMW sponsors throughout the year are:

• a Tea Party in March
• the Mother-Daughter Dinner in May
• and the Christmas Party.
